This
will just be short, as there is no easyart
session on zoom this Friday, but normal
service will be resumed on Fri 12th-
hopefully a mix of live art in a garden,
socially distanced etc, & the usual zoom for
the time being.
Meanwhile we all gathered again last Fri for
an attempt at une maison Provençale avec pré
de lavande, so a slightly different colour
scheme & method for painting lavenders,
using a spiky brush. As ever, the group are
all quickly absorbed, & because I send the
picture & the colours/brushes in advance, it
is quite easy to get started as with the sky
& mountains, greenery etc. Again there are
simple sweeps of colour which everyone does
in a different way, & by now they are used
to creating a simple Provençal house with
the worn stone & russet roof, with a vague
shadowy gray for the doors, windows &
shadows along the wall. I said it was going
to be easy art!
However, the lavender side of things is a
bit more specific when you get to the
foreground, & this is where the spiky brush
comes in with specific dabs to represent the
flower heads, swift upward streaks of greeny
grey for the stalks – a bit of scattered
stones for the base & you’re done!
I have just received an order from the U.K.
of a book & dvd called Watercolour Unleashed
which will show how to use some fresh
techniques- so watch this space…….
Meanwhile am posting a link for a utube
video on how to paint abstract poppies – so
watch this space….
