What a lovely day to
join up again for our first easyart session
after the summer break. Still hot, & sunny,
but plenty of room to spread out into the
garden with a couple of tables for 3, & two
who stayed inside in the cool, along with
two more on zoom. So I was scooting around
between all eager artists, who as ever were
absorbed in each of their own attempts at
painting the really rather tricky subject of
the cascade at Sillans-la-Cascade.
Obviously skies & greenery are all O.K. now,
but trying to find a way of depicting water
falling was hard, & we varied between
leaving plain white paper, with thin watery
blue/grey rivulets, or using masking fluid,
& some who used wax to keep the white flood
of water. Then some used a twig to draw in
the thin tree branches at the top left of
the picture, a really effective way to get
spidery lines.
Several versions of the turquoise,
translucent water appeared, which is a
special colour, & can be achieved with a mix
of cerulean blue & lemon yellow- or a
turquoise straight from the pan!
Different versions of the sandy surround &
the various trees make each person’s
painting so individual, & everyone was
pleased – up to a point……but maybe I’ll
choose something a bit simpler next time-
like a sunflower field! This is all
experimental, so will be happy to take on
other suggestions as we go along, but
certainly sunflowers are part of the area &
hopefully we’ll try & single flower as well
at the end- watch this space. |
